Why Join?
Members of a Rotary club are part of a diverse group of professional leaders working to address various community
and international service needs and to promote peace and understanding throughout the world.
Rotary International sets goals each year that our 1.2 million Rotarians work toward. Polio Eradication was
one of those goals that started as small club project in 1985.
In 1988, the World Health Assembly challenged the world to eradicate polio. Since that time, Rotary's efforts and
those of partner agencies, including the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the
United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and governments around the world, have achieved a 99 percent
reduction in the number of polio cases worldwide.
